In its 125th edition, Forbes Brasil published, for the first time, the "Small Giants" list, featuring ten businesses that stood out in their sectors — from industry to healthcare — despite their short operating history or the journey still ahead. Presented by Vivo Empresas, the Power Lunch at Casa Manioca, in São Paulo, brought together the leaders of the selected organizations and prominent figures from the Brazilian innovation market.

“Lists are Forbes' DNA, but we don't just share the numbers of billionaires. Forbes is a platform for telling inspiring stories of successful people. I am sure we will see these small giants starring in other editions soon,” said Antonio Camarotti, CEO and publisher of Forbes Brasil, during his welcome remarks.

The event honored the selected companies and featured the panel “The Transformative Power of Innovation,” moderated by Luiz Gustavo Pacete, editor of Forbes Tech, with the participation of Tulio Landin, CEO of Dengo, and Kelly Baptista, President of Fundação 1bi.

The leader of the Brazilian chocolate brand, founded in 2017, explained technology's role in “competing with organizations that have been in the market for years.” Meanwhile, the institution's president emphasized the importance of listening to the end customer to bring truly innovative solutions to the market.

Marcelo Tanner, B2B Sales Director at Vivo Empresas, took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of Brazilian talent and entrepreneurs for the country's socioeconomic development. “I am an enthusiast of the ‘Small Giants,’ because I see companies that start with a revenue of 5,000 reais reach millions.”

Baston, one of the country's leading antiperspirant manufacturers, started in a wooden shed in Palmeira, in the interior of Paraná, and today occupies a 90,000-square-meter industrial park. “For our team, it was very gratifying to be on this list. We are from a small town, and a large part of the local population works in our factory. This recognition is very important for the development of our region,” says Giuseppe Malucelli, CEO of the institution.

In an interview with Forbes, the awardees on the "Small Giants" list shared advice for those looking to start their own business or who are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. Check it out:

Daniel Katz, co-CEO of Cosmos 3D: “Be resistant, resilient, and organize your project for the next 10 years of challenges.”

Denis Carnevalli, CTO of Myralis: “Learning to take risks is very important. Talking to people from different companies to understand what the market is doing and seeking opportunities is also important.”

Gabriel Bernal, Chief Experience Officer at CloudWalk: “Only those who don't work don't make mistakes. Mistakes will be made, but they are part of the process.”

Giuseppe Malucelli, CEO of Baston: “Success is the result of a lot of hard work, honesty, and transparency. Ultimately, it's about waking up early and going to bed late.”

Guilherme Joventino, COO at Mignow: “First and foremost, you need to understand that it will be difficult. Maintain your pace and your positioning; consistency is very important for business success. Furthermore, learn to say no and stay focused.”

Izaias Pertrelly, CEO of Blue Saúde: “Just start. That's the advice I always give and find most essential, because entrepreneurs need to get their ideas off the ground.”

Lourival Nery, partner and institutional director at Group Link One: “To succeed in business, you need to love what you do and be connected to your purpose.”

Marcelo Lombardo, CEO of Omie: “Start a business in a sector where you've already worked or have some experience. It's important to understand that failure is part of entrepreneurship; the key is to keep going.”

Mônica Hauck and Ale Garci, co-founders of Sólides: “The most important thing is to have focus, energy, and resilience, because challenges will arise, and you need to be steadfast in facing them.”
