Today's post is a quick rundown on the main reasons corporations find to migrate to S/4HANA, and at the same time, the biggest concerns they face when deciding whether to start the project.

Do you have questions about what S/4HANA can do for you or how to smooth your conversion project? The world has changed, and so should your upgrade!

First, let's start with the obvious, what are the main reasons to migrate to S/4HANA? Do you really know the motivations that lead executives to choose S/4HANA? Below, we list the main motivations behind this decision:

  • Improved Performance: SAP S/4HANA offers better performance and processing speed compared to SAP ECC.
  • User Experience: SAP S/4HANA offers a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
  • Integration with other SAP solutions: SAP S/4HANA is part of the SAP HANA platform, which allows integration with other SAP solutions, such as SAP Fiori
  • Analytical Capabilities: SAP S/4HANA offers enhanced data analysis features, such as SAP HANA, which enables faster and more efficient data analysis.
  • Flexibility: SAP S/4HANA is more flexible and scalable compared to SAP ECC, making it easier to adapt to business changes.

And if it's already clear that migration is a necessary step to keep up with competitiveness, and given that business support for ECC will end in 2027, what are the biggest roadblocks preventing this decision?  Are they really as significant as the market believes?

I estimate it will cost a lot

What if I told you it would cost 5x less than traditional projects?

We don't see enough value in migrating to S/4HANA now

When you decide to migrate, will there be enough skilled labor available in the market to do it? As mentioned above, probably not, and if there is, it will be significantly costly given the imbalanced supply and demand in the current and future market.

We will migrate to S/4HANA in 2030

Do you intend to spend on maintenance costs that cannot be utilized? In this model, you spend 2% of the maintenance base value and get no return. Literally paying to maintain your obsolete ECC, waiting for a change that will be necessary in any scenario, is not a solution that aims to optimize resources.

We don't have the necessary planning.

Mignow provides your migration planning for free.

We believe this is an expensive solution right now.

How much were you estimating to spend on the project? What if I told you that you would spend 5x less on the migration using software?

I'm concerned about the Z-objects; will they function properly?

If the concern is whether Z-objects will be lost or cease to exist, we can clearly state: Nothing will happen to the Z-objects. They continue to exist in the converted environment.

We will have to be "offline" for a long time.

Everything will depend on the size of your environment. Today, we can make some predictions based on what we've already delivered. An average of 2 days. We can use SAP's NZDT.

The project completion timeline is long.

With MIGNOW software, we reduce project time, and we have an average of 4 months for Brownfield projects (based on our completed projects).

What assurances do I have that it will work?

We are the company with the most conversions worldwide; that's your biggest guarantee.

I don't know which migration methodology is best (Brownfield x Greenfield x Bluefield).

  • Greenfield: The client decides to implement from scratch, meaning a complete restructuring of their environment.
  • Brownfield: We migrate all configurations, customizations, and transactional data—the entire history—to the new environment (system).
