Mignow works on modernization in Brazil, aiming for an economic transition; the partnership aims to equip companies to participate in the future of business.

Technological evolution is a fundamental pillar for business success on a global scale. In this scenario, SAP positions itself as a vector of transformation, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine Learning (ML) to redefine the management of internal processes. This innovation not only promises to transform business operations, but also establishes a new paradigm in the use of ERP, translating the latest into the best and most used software, SAP.

With the global economy increasingly interconnected with SAP solutions, evidenced by the fact that approximately 75% of the world's GDP is connected to companies that use its solutions, the importance of technological updates and adaptations becomes unavoidable.

According to a SAP report, the year 2023 marked a significant advance in the adoption of cloud solutions, with a 20% increase in global revenue, reaching the €13.66 billion mark – a notable growth of 23%. The SAP S/4HANA Cloud platform saw a 67% jump in revenue to €3.49 billion, reflecting a 72% increase in demand. Brazil stood out in this scenario, emerging as one of the leading countries in cloud adoption. The trend highlights the search for operational efficiency, highlighting the advantages of cloud computing such as cost reduction, easier access and improved data analysis, as well as the elimination of complexity in managing physical hardware.

In response to this need, Mignow appears as an agent of change in Brazil, specializing in SAP modernization. Founded by Paulo Secco and Guilherme Joventino, the company stands out for automating migration processes, facilitating the transition to more advanced versions of the software, such as SAP S/4HANA, and promoting a more agile and economical implementation.

“Mignow was created based on an in-depth analysis of traditional conversions, identifying the main needs and gaps in the market, highlighting the end of ECC support in 2027. Currently, digital transformation is no longer a choice but has become a requirement critical for companies that want to remain competitive. We take on the responsibility of simplifying this process, enabling organizations to focus on their competencies while we manage the complexity of the migration”, declares Paulo Secco, CEO of Mignow.

Cloud computing is a response to the global need to reduce operational costs and improve data management. Together with technological giants such as AWS, Microsoft and Google, Mignow has transitioned its customers to the cloud, offering benefits in flexibility and efficiency. “Integrating innovative technologies enables a wide range of improvements, from saving time and resources to sophisticated data analysis. The use of AI by SAP S/4HANA facilitates predictive maintenance, anticipating equipment failures, in addition to optimizing business processes and improving support for employees and customers with virtual assistants”, adds Guilherme Joventino, COO at Mignow.

In addition to the cloud, SAP offers a comprehensive framework for integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and IoT devices, allowing data from these devices to be incorporated into organizational processes. These advances serve to improve efficiency, automation and analytical intelligence.

Within this framework, Machine Learning allows machines to learn to perform tasks based on patterns and data, with low human intervention. In the context of SAP, this means greater automation, more informed decision-making, and more efficient processes as machines learn from data and repetition. Technologies such as SAP Leonardo Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and SAP Conversational AÍ provide additional intelligence and automation to business processes.

IoT devices, which are physical devices interconnected via the internet, play a crucial role in improving efficiency and security. They enable the monitoring of assets, environmental conditions and route optimization, integrating with organizational processes to provide a real-time view of operations. This direct access to data allows tools like SAP Analytics Cloud to perform in-depth analysis and generate valuable insights.

Blockchain offers greater security and transparency in supply chains, while enterprise mobility meets the demands for a flexible work environment generated by post-pandemic changes. The technology ensures compliance with global regulations on product origin, combating simulation and promoting ethical business practices, as well as assisting in the development of product tracking systems that ensure data integrity from origin to delivery.

The collaboration between SAP and Mignow represents a milestone on the path to smarter and more adaptive business management, ensuring that companies not only keep up with but lead changes in the global business landscape.

This joint advancement is not only a testament to constant technological evolution but also a demonstration of the commitment to operational excellence and continuous innovation, setting the stage for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

SAP Partner, Mignow specializes in migration to S/4Hana

  • May 8, 2024
  • 6 minutes of reading

By December 2027, SAP ECC ERP users must convert to SAP S/4Hana, otherwise they will lose SAP Enterprise Support

Over the last three years, Mignow has stood out in the area of automating migration processes from ERP SAP ECC to SAP S/4Hana. The company initiated 61 projects, achieved 29 successful go lives and established 53 strategic partnerships, both national and international. The year 2023, in particular, was remarkable for Mignow, with the addition of 20 new customers and the establishment of 30 new partnerships. In this interview, Guilherme Joventino, COO of Mignow, tells how the company has been taking advantage of the good moment in the market.

How was Mignow born?

Mignow was born out of a market need. There are around 40 thousand SAP large enterprise customers around the world who need to move from SAP ECC ERP to SAP S/4Hana, otherwise they will lose SAP Enterprise Support. This means that, after December 2027, if Petrobras had not gone to SAP S/4Hana, it would no longer be entitled to updates, for example, invoices. In Brazil, we are talking about more or less 1,300 customers who need to make this migration, and now we have less than four years. We should give more than 200 go lives per year and this is not happening and we do not have consultants available on the market to meet this demand. Mignow was born from a spin-off from another consulting partner SAP, which began developing an accelerator at the end of 2016 and launched in 2019. We identified that the product had enormous potential and created this spin-off to have a life of its own. .

Are there other opportunities on the market?

The second problem we identified is that the SAP lifecycle is now different than it was in the past. Previously, an ECC version could go 10 or 15 years without an update. Today, there is only a maximum of 7 years to upgrade, otherwise the customer will lose support. For example, the last ECC update is from 2015, which is already 9 years old. All customers who implemented the first versions of S/4Hana have already lost initial support and have had to perform at least one upgrade. In 2028 we will have 48 thousand customers to upgrade, which means more than 7.3 thousand go lives per year. This is another problem that no one paid attention to and that is even bigger than what is happening today. The customer is paying 22% for SAP support, which is extremely expensive, and is not receiving any of the new functionality.

How does Mignow work?

Looking at all this, we thought about how to solve this problem. It is possible to do it manually, but it is not feasible. We started to develop a solution based on RPA, which works with loads of data, taking it from one side to the other, but it is not a conversion. In a conversion you need to understand the business, have intelligence. We then looked for some Artificial Intelligence tools in 2017 to develop what we now call Mignow. Today, Mignow is the first software capable of keeping SAP up to date. I not only upgrade from ECC version to S/4Hana, but also from S/4Hana to S/4Hana. Today, we are a partner certified by SAP itself, we are on the SAP marketplace, we have some interesting ESG versions, we are leaders in some quadrants with automation for Rise with SAP, which is SAP's new SaaS. Mignow is software that complements Rise with SAP.

What are the benefits for customers?

In a conversion project, we provide more than 80% of automation, but some tasks need to be done manually. We have a case from a large Brazilian retailer that had almost 19 thousand customized objects, it had to adjust 7.5 thousand objects for the new version of S/4Hana. After we ran Mignow, we only needed to add 140 objects, a very significant reduction. If we transform this into hours, it would be necessary to understand, adjust and test each of these 7.5 thousand codes, which would take more than 30 thousand hours. With Mignow, we did it in a total of 2 thousand hours.

Which clients does Mignow have in its portfolio?

Today we have large clients, such as Carrefour, Drogaria Pague Menos, Votorantim, Eurofarma, Randon, among others in Brazil and also outside Brazil, such as Galler (Belgian chocolate shop), EOC (Netherlands), Longping (China), Alouette (Canada) , we are now doing the Central Bank of Costa Rica, a large retailer in Honduras, in addition to a range of pipeline to close around the world. We are now opening our first branch outside Brazil in North America.

Does Mignow also implement SAP?

We do not implement SAP, only the conversion. We are today the only SAP partner in the world 100% specialized in conversion and we only work with that. No SAP partner, who implements the ERP, enters into a contract providing for the update to a new version. When a partner sells SAP, he sells the implementation, a project. Go live, the project is over. This is where an AMS (Application Management Service) comes in, which in the end is support for application management and maintenance, but not a version update. For the market, the update is considered a new project.

What are Mignow's plans?

The December 2027 date when ECC customers who do not convert to S/4Hana will lose support is the first driver of Mignow's business. There is a second driver: customers who already have S/4Hana discover that they need to update more frequently and that is where we come in again. To meet this customer need we changed our business model. We do not sell it as a project, but as a three-year subscription contract for the customer to be entitled to updates and one upgrade per year. Our purpose is to create a new category in the market, we want to be an ERP update company, outsourcing the update process via software. There are other companies that provide this service, but they are more expensive and time consuming. That's why we have several important partners providing this service using Mignow, such as Deloitte, Cast Group, Atos, ITS, Vexia, T-Systems, Neoris, Essence and other big names. There are around 60 partners around the world using Mignow in their SAP conversion projects.

Why is the end of ECC support a critical point?

  • May 6, 2024
  • 6 minutes of reading

Normal support for SAP's ERP ends in 2027 and customers need to move.

SAP is a crucial system for storing and organizing business data, playing a key role in improving internal processes. SAP is committed to continually updating its software, prioritizing the development of new versions and, consequently, discontinuing old ones.

This strategy aims to encourage customers to migrate to the latest versions, such as SAP S/4HANA, ensuring they benefit from the most advanced innovations and efficiencies available.

The discontinuation of ECC, announced in 2020 by SAP, is an important milestone. Companies that still use the second generation of software need to migrate to SAP S/4HANA by 2027 to avoid using an obsolete system and high costs.

This transition is also necessary to maintain Enterprise Support, technical support that provides benefits such as access to regular updates, bug fixes and patches, identification of potential problems with and assistance, access to libraries, technical documentation and educational materials.

In addition, Enterprise Support provides analysis of factors such as areas in which SAP can help improve production times, provide data and information to improve the organization's inventories, for example.

In this step, when all versions of a generation are discontinued, this generation is terminated in SAP and all users still in it must migrate.

Until they carry out this migration process, they will be charged 2% of the value of their contract to continue using the system. This detail highlights the urgency and importance of updating to the latest version of the software.

The migration challenge is not small, considering the number of companies affected and the resources required. With more than 1,300 companies in Brazil and 40,000 worldwide needing to migrate, the time and labor available suggest that it may not be possible for everyone to complete the transition by the established deadline.

Digitizing internal processes offers significant benefits, including greater operational efficiency, reduced errors, increased productivity, improved security, faster analysis, as well as greater simplicity and flexibility during processes.

These improvements directly impact organizations' revenue and are essential for agile business models.

OS/4HANA is also evolving to, among other things, adapt to future trends that are part of digital transformation, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain and advanced data analytics.

These future trends are shaping the digital transformation of companies, driving innovation, improving customer experience and creating new business models.

Unlike the previous version, the system was designed and developed in accordance with the organizations' current operating model, adapting better to changes. This demand came from the companies themselves, which expanded into new markets and created new needs.

Previously, the processes consumed a lot of time and resources, since the previous version was created for business models that did not change so quickly, in addition to no longer supporting technological advances on the market.

Another example is reports, which are simpler and provide more complete information with fewer clicks, which helps save time and resources, increasing employee productivity by being able to deliver results more quickly and efficiently.

Designed to meet the current demands of organizations, SAP S/4HANA facilitates changes, acquisitions and the introduction of new sales channels. The new interface, Fiori, optimizes operations, minimizes data redundancies and accelerates decision making, standing out for its flexibility and ease of use.

From its intelligent data design reduces aggregate tables and data redundancy for greater efficiency, instead of storing data in a data warehouse and waiting for it to load, the system provides faster analysis and insights.

OS/4 HANA is also designed to work with the in-memory database (IMDB), offering fast recovery and optimized performance. IMDB stores data in RAM instead of traditional disks or SSDs and is 3,600 times faster than traditional databases, with a response time of less than 1 second.

Banks are used in applications that require speed and capacity, such as telecommunications and banking systems can adopt in-memory banks for analytics, predictive modeling and more.

Existing business transactions and analytics capabilities also accelerate insights, enabling decisions to be made easily and quickly and business processes to be carried out in a single application with a single source of facts, without having to switch between systems and applications .

In addition, the update provides a 20% reduction in inventory cost and 30% in total cost of ownership, in addition to a 50% reduction in billing process time.

Furthermore, this version significantly improves security, offering protection against intrusions and cyber threats. The migration process is simplified, with regular updates that improve security, fix bugs and introduce new features, leaving ECC behind by more than 3 thousand features compared to S/4HANA.

This underlines the critical need to update to maintain competitiveness and prepare for the future.

By keeping SAP up to date, companies guarantee access to innovations that boost efficiency and competitiveness

São Paulo, March 2024 – With the beginning of the new year, companies around the world are reevaluating their management strategies. The migration to SAP S/4HANA stands out as a strategic priority. Guilherme Joventino, COO of Mignow, pioneering software specialized in SAP automation, lists five crucial reasons to start migration planning in 2024.

1. End of Enterprise Support and Labor Challenges: SAP support, known as Enterprise Support, will be discontinued in 2027. Companies that do not migrate by then will face the loss of this vital support, potentially leading to a shortage of qualified professionals and the increased costs, with a fine of 2% of the value of the contract with SAP, and operational risks. Postponing the decision will result in additional costs and system obsolescence, warns Joventino.

2. Increased Efficiency and Competitiveness: Upgrading to SAP S/4HANA provides access to new features that boost operational efficiency and market competitiveness. S/4HANA's intuitive interface facilitates quick decision-making, optimizes processes and increases productivity, providing a competitive advantage in the market, in addition to compatibility with other devices, such as mobile, which allow information and decision-making in real time. Industries that migrate to S/4HANA experience up to 5x faster operational speed compared to their competitors. This results in significantly greater employee productivity, operating in a faster and more efficient system. In addition, S/4HANA helps in making quick decisions, for example, rural producers can obtain vital information about soil PH directly on their cell phone, allowing immediate adjustments in soil treatment, minimizing losses and waste. These scenarios demonstrate the versatility and transformative impact of S/4HANA in various sectors.

3. Reduction of Operational and Energy Costs: Migrating to S/4HANA helps reduce operational and energy costs. The Carrefour Group, for example, observed a reduction of 30% in operating costs and 45% in energy consumption after adopting SAP BTP.

4. Improved Security: Constantly updating SAP is essential for data security. New features and security measures are continually incorporated into the system, protecting companies against emerging threats. Guilherme Joventino highlights the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the current technological scenario. “With AI becoming increasingly present, SAP offers a compatible and secure system against possible vulnerabilities associated with this technology. A system not integrated with AI can be vulnerable to unauthorized access attempts, while an updated SAP offers robust protection against such risks”, explains the COO. This example highlights the importance of keeping your SAP system up to date, not only to improve functionality but also to ensure security against emerging technologies like AI.

5. Preparation for the Future and Continuous Integration: SAP, aligned with the latest technological trends, ensures that companies that keep their systems up to date have the advantage of always being equipped with the latest innovations. Each system update, such as the mobile integration introduced by S/4HANA, adds new functionalities that reinforce the competitiveness of organizations in the market. Guilherme Joventino emphasizes the importance of keeping SAP up to date, highlighting that each update introduces innovative features, essential to keep the company competitive both in the present and in the future.

It is important to recognize that SAP is constantly evolving, with frequent updates that discontinue old models and introduce new ones, so ECC is not the last model to be discontinued. These updates, whether small changes throughout the year or major annual updates, bring constant innovation. In this context, having a partner like Mignow, which offers a subscription service for automatic system updates, is vital. This ensures that organizations are always operating with the latest version of SAP, maximizing their efficiency and competitive advantage.

Nike (NIKE34), XP, Carrefour (CRFB3): Meet Mignow, the startup behind the migration of brands' systems

  • April 30, 2024
  • 4 minutes of reading

With a list of clients such as Nike (NIKE34), Carrefour (CRFB3) and XP, Mignow is gaining a place of reference in the technological update market.

THE startup originating in Silicon Valley arises in a scenario in which specialized labor is very rare for the migration of SAP ECC systems to SAP S / 4HANA. Guilherme Joventino, one of the founders of the startup, says that the initial investment in the idea was made over three years and that the value was around US$ 2 million (equivalent to around R$ 10 million at today's exchange rate).

Exponential, the investment in Mignow is bearing good fruit, according to the co-founder. “Our launch was in 2019 and in 2022 we won the first global award with SAP, the Global Innovation Award”, celebrates Joventino. He also highlights the growth in revenue and the number of customers, which jumped four times in the year-on-year comparison, in addition to the achievement of 34% of the sector's market share in 2022.

According to company research, the market for personalized solutions for SAP tool is extensive: there are 413 thousand customers in 180 countries.

What to Mignow developed was a way for entrepreneurs to update the system in a personalized and loyalty-based manner. Through software subscription, the startup uses artificial intelligence to optimize migration processes, providing valuable insights and reducing errors and execution times.

Partnership with AWS

In addition to the systems migration service, the Mignow also made a good strategic move with the Amazon Web Services (AWS).

THE AWS, a global leader in cloud platforms, has been investing in the startup since 2022, offering subsidies of up to 100% of the value of the software and support in automated migration to SAP.

Joventino also highlights that companies like AWS and others hyperscales “understood that the Mignow system It’s a game changer to boost services.”

“Companies have until 2027 to migrate [from SAP systems]. They can leave it to do later and they will continue to be able to invoice, have reports and controls, but not in the best way”, explains the co-founder.

Furthermore, Joventino highlights that in its journey of helping small businesses, AWS realized that when a large client, like Nike, is interested in a company with the startup's system, for example, smaller companies in the same market tend to go back.

Mignow plans for 2024

The co-founder also says that, for 2024, the Mignow intends to continue its geographic expansion.

“We are opening operations in the United States, which is the focus of the first half of the year. Next, we intend to gain traction in the European market.”

Joventino reinforces that a valuable lesson learned from the Sales Force case was Land, Expand and Retain, in free translation, to land, expand and retain.

“First we establish our footing and expand there, then we will look for another territory. Brazil is a lake with a limited number of fish and for 2024 our main motto is internationalization”, says the co-founder of Mignow.

The Importance of Assessment in Business Systems Migration

The Importance of Assessment in Business Systems Migration

  • April 24, 2024
  • 5 minutes reading

Guilherme Joventino, COO and co-founder of Mignow, highlights the importance of Assessment for companies that want to migrate to SAP.

Enterprise systems migration is a crucial journey many organizations face in their quest for improvement and efficiency. This transition, often centered on changing the SAP system, requires thorough planning to ensure a smooth and successful process. This is where the Assessment stage, also known as Discovery, comes in, playing a fundamental role in carrying out this migration.

What is Assessment?

Assessment, also known as Discovery, is a standard process of mapping the organization's environment, designed to provide insights into the foundation of an organization's system and its needs. This step occurs before migration and is essential to understand the database, as well as the conditions and configurations existing in the company's system. This prior analysis of the environment plays a fundamental role. The key to this process is information, which will be analyzed and used by a professional to conduct the migration and take the organization to its new environment, which will be optimized with new, unprecedented features.

Imagine migration as a path to be followed, where the organization wants to move from one version of SAP ECC to S/4HANA. However, to make this journey successfully, it is essential to have a map that indicates the path to follow. The Assessment provides the study necessary to create the map, including information about the current environment, the challenges that will arise in the process, details about the data to be transported and, equally important, the time and cost involved in the migration.

SAP itself makes this service available to its customers through the Readiness Check, where a series of information related to the system is presented, such as size, base and version. However, it is possible to go further with this functionality, measuring in more depth in order to provide more detail for the company, which leads to more security in estimating costs and downtime, for example, to have a more complete and more detailed survey. customized as the basis for migration.

In this Readiness Check complement, the information provided by the procedure is analyzed and, together with the company, studied to define what will be taken to the new environment and what is no longer relevant to the new environment after migration. This is where important decisions are made, including the migration model, which can be Greenfield (implementation from scratch, that is, completely restructuring your environment without taking anything from the previous environment); Brownfield (previous configurations and history are loaded into the new environment, i.e. customizations, transactional data are maintained); Bluefield (all configurations, all developed programs are taken, but not the transactional data, it's as if it started SAP from scratch).

The Value of Assessment for Migration

Assessment plays a fundamental role in ensuring a smooth and successful migration. Here are some of the main benefits:

1. Making Informed Decisions: This step helps the company understand which SAP modules must be migrated, which is essential to determine the level of complexity of the migration and identify the necessary journey to the new environment. Additionally, it provides valuable recommendations such as the most suitable migration model and recommended SAP version.

2. Clarity and Self-Knowledge: offers a detailed view of the size of the database, personalized codes (known as “Z's”) and other elements of the system, providing clarity and self-knowledge to the company. This helps to identify opportunities to optimize processes and functionalities that can be useful according to the organization's needs, minimizing risks and unexpected changes during migration.

3. Improved Performance: By providing detailed information about the system and its integrations, Assessment contributes to improving the performance of both users and SAP software. This can lead to the optimization of work processes and the identification of beneficial opportunities for the organization.

Although the Assessment is valuable, it can present operational challenges, such as executing the Readiness Check, a step from SAP itself. The complexity of this process comes from the handling of extremely sensitive information, but this concern is resolved through the confidentiality agreement (NDA).

In short, the Assessment stage is crucial, both for the company carrying out the migration and for the organization that is migrating. It provides the data necessary for a complete understanding of the environment, guiding the company towards the next steps and ensuring a successful migration. Assessment is an essential ally in the search for efficiency and improvement of business systems, contributing to success in an increasingly digital business scenario.

MIGNOW drives the digitalization of internal processes through RPA, process automation and SAP integration

Carrefour migrated to SAP S/4HANA in just 3 months, ensuring an updated system for Black Friday, with better reliability and capacity to handle a greater volume of work

THE Mignow, a pioneering company in updating SAP systems, is revolutionizing the way companies approach the digitalization of their internal processes. As process automation such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation) becomes increasingly common, Mignow goes further by focusing on updating software systems, particularly in the context of SAP.

The digitalization of internal processes provides a series of benefits, including greater operational efficiency, reduced errors, increased productivity, improved security and an improvement in the quality of service provided to customers. These gains have a direct impact on organizations’ revenue.

Currently, RPA is widely used to automate repetitive digital tasks, saving time and resources. However, digitalization can go beyond this and extend to updating software systems such as SAP. By keeping these systems up to date, companies can enjoy better performance, improved efficiency, and a more responsive user experience.

Guilherme Joventino, COO and co-founder of Mignow, highlights the importance of keeping the organization's software up to date. He states that by keeping the system constantly updated, Mignow offers new functionalities that drive the digitalization of internal processes, including minor updates, such as fees and taxes that are calculated automatically, saving time and optimizing employees' work.

According to SAP research, process automation can significantly reduce the number of clicks (53%), screen changes (96%) and fields to be filled in (66%). This automation is directly related to RPA, which relieves employees of repetitive tasks.

Furthermore, RPA facilitates the creation of personalized internal processes, allowing companies to automate specific actions according to their needs. SAP offers more than 300 ready-to-use templates, further simplifying the automation process.

Joventino emphasizes the time savings when using Mignow software as a subscription service. Several customers have experienced faster migration, allowing them to realize the benefits of updated systems in a shorter time frame. Some cases that we can cite to illustrate this point are the migration of the construction company RFM, which occurred in just 18 days, and that of Carrefour, which migrated in just 3 months.

Carrefour's case was delicate as the company aimed to have the system fully updated before Black Friday. Paulo Henrique Farroco, CIO of Carrefour Brasil at the time, highlighted the agility in migration, while Jackson Borges, vice president of SAP Brasil, highlighted the reliability, support for greater volumes and modernization of the back office environment.

Paulo emphasized the speed of the migration: “With SAP S/4HANA, we carried out accounting and received sales data, generating invoices for MarketPlace partners. This provides recommendations based on the company’s history,” commented Paulo. Jackson Borges highlighted the notable benefits of the migration: “The migration to SAP S/4HANA brought notable benefits to Carrefour, including greater reliability, support for higher work volumes and modernization of the back office environment. Furthermore, the system prepares Carrefour for future growth through the Rise with SAP offering.”

Other advantages include reduced operating costs (30%), lower energy consumption due to cloud hosting (45%) and increased end-user productivity (up to 64%) with the new Fiori interfaces.

Mignow uses cutting-edge technology, including Artificial Intelligence, to facilitate its processes. The company aims to be a reference in updating ERP systems, including all software in this category.
